The meeting was specifically attended by the office-bearers of the Embroidery Association. Syed Zia Alumdar said that FCCI is included among three top and major chambers of country which is trying its optimum best to resolve business related problems of its members in addition to contributing its role for overall development of Faisalabad.
He specifically mentioned the efforts of FCCI in policy making and said that the existing textile policy of PTI government was also authored by the FCCI. "Similarly, we are regularly sending budget proposal to the government every year", he added. He said that high government officials are regularly visiting the FCCI to bridge gap between the government and business community. He further said that Finance Minister Asad Umar, Advisor to Prime Minister on Industry, Commerce and Investment Razaq Dawood, Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed and many provincial ministers and ambassadors stationed in Islamabad had also visited and interacted with business community to cultivate positive working relationship between different sectors of economy.
Regarding CSR Corporate Social Responsibility) activities, he told that FCCI has so far contributed its role in organizing four major sports events which also played a positive role in improving the overall image of Pakistan and Faisalabad. He further told that now FCCI was working for the expansion of runway of Faisalabad Airport in addition to starting new dedicated passenger and Goods trains for Faisalabad. He told that Faisalabad has hundreds and thousands of businessmen who are not members of the FCCI. "It is a major handicap in the resolution of their sector specific problems", he said and urged upon them to become members of FCCI so that their problems could be taken up at appropriate forums. "Their membership will also strengthen the FCCI to exert pressure on policy makers to give maximum relief to our members", he added.
Hajji Muhammad Arshad chairman Embroidery Association said that more than one Lakh workers are employed by embroidery units which are a value-added offshoot of textile sector. He expressed concern over the appreciation of dollar and said that it has increased the prices of imports and hence, 40 percent of industries have been closed due to financial constraints.
